In an attempt to be remotely creative I chose a Luau themed birthday for my August girl's first ever celebration! I spent months leading up to Bryer Gray's birthday trying to find the perfect theme to fit my sub-par creativity skills. For birthdays, we celebrate with our extended family as well as friends and immediate family so I knew that I had to be able to host outside, since our home doesn't have a very large gathering area. I finally came across "First Luau" and I couldn't resist!
I sent out these invitations -

I bought decorations & "favors"
To be truthful, much of our "decor" came from Dollar Tree! It was the end of the summer and so a lot of the items were on sale! What a steal. Since I can't obviously link those I found more decor items here ->

*Bryer's Flower crown is a bracelet that came in the party pack
So, on Friday night (birthday party eve) we had friends in from my husbands home town , which is three and a half hours away! {more on that later} I love them so much and they were so helpful preparing for the 25+ guests we were expecting on Saturday! We spent that evening on our patio ~ laughing and talking and getting excited to celebrate our girls first birthday!
We woke up on Saturday and went to the local diner for breakfast, and I ran to the grocery store and picked up White Mountain Rolls for the party sandwiches. *disclaimer - I live in a town of 900 people and we have a bakery. They make fresh rolls and we have them at A LOT of family functions... they are DELICIOUS.* When we got home the girls went to work on setting up the food, and baking the cupcakes. The boys did the heavy lifting of setting up tents as well as the tables and chairs. Around 4pm we began the party, my daughter slept through quite a bit of it - just our luck! ha! Once she was up she was all smiles. We were so lucky to have so many people celebrate from close-by and far away.
